UK: Kennel Clubs' Discover Dogs and the National Pet Show

In recent months BOFF has supported two major meet-the-breed events with their Bergamascos.

In mid-October the Kennel Club’s Discover Dogs event was held at the ExCel Centre in London’s Docklands. This event runs twice each year, this being the sister event to that held during the Crufts Show. On Saturday morning Paul set up the Bergamasco stand and held the fort until Alya and Lee arrived and settled in for the day’s work with Mauro and Toby. On Sunday Rachel and Dave brought Lucca and Lizzie to accompany Jo and Paul with Alfie, Storm and Fiona. The event was very busy throughout each day and the humans were in constant demand for information about their magnificent dogs - meanwhile the new Cuddle Corner section was particularly popular, with each of the Bergamascos enjoying their turn at being pampered by many, many children and adults alike.

In early-November the National Pet Show was held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. This is a slightly less-formal event that BOFF has been proud to support for several years now. Saturday’s team included Rachel, Dave, Alya and Lee with their Bergamascos Lucca, Lizzie, Mauro and Toby followed by Claire, Bill, Jo and Paul on Sunday with Alfie, Fiona, Paolo and Storm (as well as wannabe berg William). Again, the stand was very busy throughout, though this show tends to be more about showing off and sharing our dogs rather than tempting prospective future owners. An interesting element is the Canine Catwalk which involves an interview on a public stage - it was very amusing to see the groomers sponsoring the section squirm as they tried to offer coat care advice..!
